What businesses search for in AI: agents, automation and the company brain in 2026
Original research from Google Trends in the US, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the Netherlands. “AI automation” and “AI agents” are searched three to four times as much as “lead generation” in the US, “AI agents” beats “digital marketing agency” in the UAE, and searches for a private company AI are still small.

Before building pages on AI agents and automation, we looked at what people actually type. These are the findings from Google Trends for the United States, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the Netherlands, for the twelve months to 25 October 2026.
How to read the numbers
- Each score is the average weekly interest over twelve months on Google’s 0–100 scale, where 100 is the busiest week of the busiest term in the same comparison. Scores show which words people use, not absolute volumes.
- Scores can only be compared within one comparison, so each finding names what a term was compared with.
- Related searches come from Google’s list for one term, where 100 is the most searched related query.
Five findings
1. AI automation and AI agents now outsearch lead generation in the US
In one US comparison, “ai automation” averages 49 against 17 for “lead generation”; in another, “ai agents” averages 44 against 12. “workflow automation” scores 14. The searches around “ai automation” are practical: “what is ai automation” (41 of 100 related), “business automation ai” (38), “ai automation tools” (33), and “ai workflow automation” and “ai marketing automation” (21 each).
2. Buyers search for the capability, not the agency
In the US, “ai automation agency” scores 1 and “ai agent development” 2 against 44 for “ai agents”. In the UAE, “ai agency” scores 17 against 47 for “ai agents”. As in our research on marketing and lead generation, people search for what they want done, then judge who can do it.
3. In the Gulf, AI is searched in English
In the UAE, “ai agents” (47), “chatbot” (44) and “ai automation” (36) all score above “digital marketing agency” (21). In Saudi Arabia, “ai agent” averages 39, close to “seo” (51) and “crm” (54), while the Arabic terms we tested score 0 to 9, with “شات بوت” (chatbot) the highest. Companies in the Gulf look for AI in English.
4. In Egypt, the tools are searched more than the service
In Egypt, “n8n”, an open-source automation tool, averages 58 next to 73 for “crm”, well above “ai agent” (31), “chatbot” (19) and “ai automation” (17). Many people there appear to build automation themselves rather than search for someone to do it.
5. The company AI brain does not have a name yet
Searches for a private company AI are low: in the US, “ai knowledge base”, “private llm” and “custom gpt” each score about 3, against 44 to 49 for “ai agents” and “ai automation”. Companies want an assistant that knows their business, but the category has no common name yet.
Market by market
- United States: “ai automation” (49) and “ai agents” (44) lead, against 12 to 17 for “lead generation”.
- UAE: “ai agents” 47, “chatbot” 44, “ai automation” 36, “digital marketing agency” 21, “ai agency” 17.
- Saudi Arabia: “crm” 54, “seo” 51, “ai agent” 39, “chatbot” 21, “ai automation” 17; the Arabic AI terms score 0 to 9.
- Egypt: “crm” 73, “n8n” 58, “ai agent” 31, “chatbot” 19, “ai automation” 17.
- Netherlands: “ai agents” 19 and “chatbot” 11, against 1 for “online marketing bureau” and close to 0 for the Dutch “ai automatisering”.
What this means for a growing company
- 01Name AI work after the outcome people search for, such as automation, agents or a chatbot, not after a vendor or a model.
- 02In the Gulf, write about AI in English first; the Arabic terms are not yet searched.
- 03Automate the fixed hand-offs first, then add agents where the work varies.
- 04If you want a company AI brain, describe it by what it does for your team; the category name is not settled.
