Offshore teams in Egypt for the US and Canada: what founders ask first.

  • Cairo is 7 hours ahead of New York for most of 2026, so 11:00 in New York is 18:00 in Cairo. From 8 March to 23 April and on 30 and 31 October the difference is 6 hours, because Egypt and the US change their clocks on different dates.

  • Offshore. For US companies, nearshore usually means Latin America. Egypt is nearshore for Europe, an hour from Central European time, and offshore for North America, with a working day that can overlap the East Coast morning.

  • At GrowAxis’s 2026 rates, a mid-level software engineer costs about $2,500 a month, a junior about $1,500 and a senior about $6,940, all in: pay, social insurance, equipment and management. A mid-level QA engineer costs about $2,100.
